At Unique Windows London, every project tells a story — and this one begins long before a single frame was fitted. When we were brought in to supply and install a full suite of Cortizo flush sash windows and doors on a residential project in London, we knew from the outset that this was going to be something special.

Collaboration from Day One

Great results don’t happen by accident. They’re built on communication, planning, and trust between the right people. On this project, we were proud to work alongside the client’s architect and builder from the very earliest stages — long before work began on site.

Getting involved at the planning phase made all the difference. We were able to advise on frame profiles, colour options, and glazing specifications while the wider design was still taking shape. That means no costly surprises, no late-stage compromises, and a finished result that reflects the original vision — precisely as intended.

A Phased Installation, Done Properly

Large projects rarely run in a straight line, and this was no exception. Rather than arriving, fitting everything in one go, and leaving the other trades to work around us, we approached the installation in carefully coordinated phases.

Working closely with the builder and site team, we scheduled each phase to complement what was happening on site at any given time — whether that was plastering, decorating, or finishing the surrounding joinery. The result? A smoother build programme for everyone, and frames that arrived on site at exactly the right moment, protected and perfectly prepared.

The Colour Palette: Cream Frames, Black on White Sashes

One of the most striking aspects of this installation is the carefully considered colour scheme. The cream frames were chosen to harmonise with the building’s existing facade — a warm, traditional tone that sits comfortably against period brickwork and render without dominating it.

The sashes themselves take a bolder approach: black on white, a classic combination that creates beautiful contrast and draws the eye to the elegant proportions of the Cortizo flush sash profile. It’s a pairing that manages to feel both timeless and sharp — exactly the kind of detail that elevates a building from well-built to genuinely beautiful.

Aged Lead: The Finishing Touch

Perhaps the detail we’re most proud of on this project is the aged lead detailing, applied to give the installation a traditional, characterful finish. Where standard lead can look stark and new against period architecture, aged lead settles naturally into its surroundings — looking as though it has always been there.

It’s a small touch, but it’s precisely these kinds of considered details that separate a competent installation from a truly outstanding one.

Why Cortizo Flush Sash?

The Cortizo flush sash system was the natural choice for this project. Engineered to offer the clean, flat sightlines of a traditional timber flush sash window within a high-performance aluminium system, it delivers the best of both worlds: the aesthetic warmth of heritage architecture with the low maintenance, thermal performance, and longevity that modern aluminium provides.

For a project where authenticity of appearance was just as important as technical performance, Cortizo was the clear answer.
